After months of preparation and 30 days of a stressful but fulfilling Kickstarter campaign, we can officially say we have been successful. We raised just over our goal of $18,000 and will now begin the process of mass producing the PrismPals!
It's difficult to describe the experience of a crowdfunding campaign. You find yourself in constant fluctuation between gratitude, self-doubt, anxiety, and appreciation for everyone who shows their support regardless of the size of their gesture. We sent hundreds of emails to bloggers and news outlets, 99% of which went ignored. We learned about finance, marketing, manufacturing, and ecommerce. We managed to find a level of generosity and support from our community most often reserved for tragedies and misfortune. Prismland brought out the best in all the people who wanted to help us create these great toys or simply enjoyed supporting us.
We started with a great concept for educational products that we sunk our hearts into. Now, we have an entire community of support surrounding us to bring them to life consisting of family, old and new friends, past teachers, and complete strangers who, for whatever reason, decided to take a chance on us.
Thanks to all of you, this has become real. It is no longer just an idea or a concept. It's a real product that will be made.
Now, we embark on the adventure of making it happen. Here's what comes next:
Your credit cards will be processed by Kickstarter. Before the campaign ended, your cards were only authorized, not charged. This can take up to 14 days as some payments may not go through right away (expired cards, insufficient funds, etc.). Don't worry though, if there's a problem with your card Kickstarter will let you know…several times. After the 14 day window, we collect all of the successful payments and take a luxury vacation to Hawaii. Kidding! Just making sure you're paying attention.
As the payments are being processed, we will be working with our manufacturer to design and finalize prototypes for Cubert and Hexter. We will also be working to build our web store which is going to look great, we promise. We'll let you know as soon as it's up so you can check out the business you helped to build.
Once we have the money in the bank, we'll be able calculate exactly what our financial distribution is going to look like. We'll have a relatively accurate estimation of our total shipping cost and so we'll be able to determine exactly how many toys will be ordered as well as how much we'll have to put towards marketing.
The toys are going to take the longest time to manufacture and ship so we'll be putting all of our initial focus into making sure that process begins immediately.
While the toys are being manufactured, we'll be finalizing all of our packaging designs and have all of our printed materials (stickers, posters, boxes, etc.) made.
We're hoping to have everything ready to ship by the end of February but, as always, there may be delays. We'll be doing everything we can to avoid them and keep you fully updated along the way.
Some are wondering when the other characters are going to be made available. The short answer is, we don't know. It's going to take some time to grow the business but trust us, we want them as badly as you do and releasing them is our priority.
Thanks again for all of your help and support. We can't wait to get the PrismPals out there.
